Personal Licences
A Personal Licence authorises the holder to sell or authorise the sale of alcohol in accordance with the terms of a Premises Licence, which also authorises the sale of alcohol, which relates to the premises where the sale is taking place.
It is a requirement that a DPS must be the holder of a Personal Licence.
NB. In order to sell alcohol from anywhere that is not covered by a Premises Licence a Temporary Event Notice must be served.
In order to apply for a Personal Licence the applicant must:
Be 18 years old or over
Not have forfeited a Personal Licence in the preceding 5 years
Complete an application for a Personal Licence along with the convictions declaration (Both available to download below)
Note: If you have in the past been charged with Relevant Offence then you will have to first check if the conviction is spent or not. Please note that under the Licensing Act 2003 some convictions are never spent. If you have a conviction that is a Relevant Offence and is unspent they you may be refused a Personal Licence if the police object to the application on the grounds that granting the application would undermine the crime prevention licensing objective.
